2013, Made in Zvizzchi

How will the image of Zvizzchi stay imprinted in people’s minds?
A broad range of local and external village experts created a multi-facetted image of this specific Russian village and landscape.

MADE IN ZVIZZCHI:
1.GREETINGS FROM ZVIZZCHI,
2.ZVIZZCHI PRODUCES,
3.STONE AND SOIL WALKS,
4.ZVIZZCHI SHOWS.

1. GREETINGS FROM ZVIZZCHI
7 postcards based on photos of the village and its production in 2012/13. All photo`s are made by the villagers, the local school and visiting artists. In meetings the villagers decided how the different seasons with e.g. small scale agricultural skills, domestic craft and new visions of the youngsters could represent Zvizzchi. Making postcards together is a basic format to edit flows of images. And a postcard is simply an old and known artefact that can communicate the interaction between new visitors and locals. (and ZVIZZCHI had no postcards yet).

2. ZVIZZCHI PRODUCES
Production in the village, craft, skills is part of a shop that will be launched during the Archstoyanie Festival and in the village in Juli 2013.
In de village – to mark the Dutch-Russian exchange year - a Dutch vegetable trial field is organised with Rijk Zwaan and this will feed some of the events with food and interlocal knowledge.
- The shop will be part of the main village shop and is permanently installed on one wall. Craft, food and goods are for sale.
- The vegetable-trial-field is next to the school and kids, teachers and experts will grow food there and exchange their knowledge. Extra salads are grown for the salad bar.

The Zvizzchi Shop is part of the International Village Shop

3. STONE AND SOIL WALKS
“What is the cultural space we are in?” The geological history of ZVIZZCHI is on a daily base always present. Just physically there, you can touch it, see it and use it. Many might know that it is (formerly) used by many people as farmland, as a frontier or as a place to live your life. The lower bed of the river, the typical clayey soil, the more sandy layers that pop up, the stones that lay around everywhere - I want to learn about them. Therefor I will organize walks and make drawings in the village with specialists and hope to learn the story of the geological movements that were needed to make ZVIZZCHI on the Ugra.

4. ZVIZZCHI SHOWS
In the summer we will have several stones and lots of pictures and 10 postcards and a geological animation. This needs to be shown and shared with others.
Show in KLUB in Zvizzchi in July and August and in October as part of the Moscow Biennale 2013.
